Originally called VJR, the International Association of Jumping Riding was founded
in 1996 in Barcelona by Hans-Peter Vogelsanger.
In 2007, the name changed to the International Association of Jumping Riding Ambassadors (AJA).
The Association now boasts more than 250 members in 12 countries. Since its creations,
the Association organised more than 200 international tournaments.
The Ambassadors are primarily committed to the horse as a noble being and partner in their
favorite sport.
The most important mission of the AJA is to organise the Ambassadors' tour, which includes 7
to 9 tournaments each year and passes through 6 to 8 European countries in renowned venues such
as Addington (UK), Barcelona (E), La Baule (F), Vimeiro (P), Mannheim (D) and Fontainebleau (F).
From 2023, AJA has set up the "AMBASSADOR TOUR by AJA", a series approved by the FEI
(International Equestrian Federation) which includes qualifying competitions and an annual final
at the end of the season bringing together the best riders of the year.
During the Ambassador Class tournaments, riders do not only fight for victory and ranking, but
also for points towards the ranking of the annual evaluations such as the Challenge Cup (height
of 1.10 m), the Europa Cup (height of about 1.20/1.25 m). The specificity of this circuit is
also to propose 2 events (small tour and large tour) by team of 3 or 4 riders during each event,
with an annual final (Friendship Cup and Ambassador Cup).
Riders, aged 45 years and over, may participate in CSI-V and become members of the AJA. They
must hold a valid NF licence and are not allowed to participate in other competitions with an
initial course of more than 1.35 m in the current and previous years.
